The life
Initially active in German Theosophy, he increasingly developed an independent Christian-esoteric worldview and split from the Society. He died at the Goetheanum in Dornach after prolonged illness.
Place in the tradition
Of all the figures here, his practical institutions — schools, farms, clinics — have reached the most people who have never heard of esotericism.
