archangel

Tzadkiel

צדקיאל

Also written Zadkiel, Tzadiqel, and Zadkiell.

Agrippa joins Tzadkiel to Jupiter and to Hesed, or Chesed. Later Hermetic Qabalah keeps the bond, placing the archangel in the sphere of mercy, generosity and expansive power.

The older spelling varies by manuscript, printing and transliteration. Claims of inclusion in a list by Pseudo-Dionysius are not used here because his hierarchy names orders, not seven individual archangels.

What particular texts actually say the figure does; later devotional generalisations are not substituted for them.

Role

Agrippa's particular intelligence of Hesed and ruler of Abraham.

This directly supports the Chesed linkage in a sixteenth-century Hermetic source.
