The pairing belongs to the seven-gated ladder exactly as Celsus's report survives in Origen; it is not silently replaced by the later alchemical sequence.

Albertus Magnus, De mineralibus, After 1248; probably completed 1261–1262 — Book III, tractate I, chapter 6, pp. 168–169
Albert gives all seven planet–metal names in one passage and attributes the opinion to earlier Hermetic and alchemical writers.

The metal this rank's seal is to be made in, stated in the appendix. Earls take copper and silver together — 'alike equal' — which the book gives as one instruction. Crowley speculates in the same note that Earls' seals ought to be iron, since otherwise Mars is left out of the seven planetary metals. That is his reasoning and not the book's, and it is not seeded.
