Sephirah

Binah

Left-hand of the upper pair, and the exact mirror of Chochmah: four lines in the same four directions, with the Double Daleth dropping to Gevurah as Gimel drops to Chesed. On the 1884 plate this is where Lamed is printed for a second time, in the place where Dalet belongs; Dalet appears nowhere on it.

נכתב יהו"ה ונקרא אלהים — the Eighth Gate of Sha'arei Orah. The name belongs to the SEFIRAH and not to any diagram: Gikatilla wrote around 1290, four centuries before this arrangement was printed, and was describing neither this tree nor any other. The gate verse and the name's locus are the same verse, and that is the point of it: the Tetragrammaton here carries Elohim's vowel-points, written one way and read another, which is exactly what Gikatilla says this sefirah's name does.
