Planetary magic · Intelligences

The square intelligences

Agrippa names an intelligence beside each planetary square in Book II, chapter 22. He also names a separate spirit. The angels listed in Book III are another set of names, not replacements for these.

The number beside a name has different meanings from square to square. It may be the sum of the whole grid, the sum of one line, or—in Venus's case—the number of cells. The spellings here follow the printed English text used for this site.

The seven names

Two details worth noting

For Venus, Agrippa also prints the plural name Bne Seraphim at 1252. Hagiel, at 49, is the singular name shown above.

The Moon's 3321 name is a full phrase. “Malcha” appears as a shortened form in an editor's note; it is not the whole name in the text. Agrippa gives names and numbers here, but no life story for each intelligence.
